Spring Gala Honoring Dr. Bernadine Healy '62
Date: Wednesday, May 6 2009, 06:00 PM
Place: The Four Seasons Hotel, 57 East 57th Street, New York City

Our Spring ’09 fundraiser was held on May 6th at The Four Seasons Hotel and honored Bernadine Healy, M.D., ’62. She is the former Dean of the College of Medicine and Public Health at Ohio State University, first woman to head the NIH, and past president of The American Red Cross. Dr. Healy was introduced by Honorary Chair, Linda P. Fried, M.D., M.P.H., ’66, who is currently the Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Nearly 80 alums and friends attended the event and were touched to hear Dr. Healy talk about the influence Hunter High had on her life. The class of ’77 turned out the most class members – with six – including Janine Craane who donated $5,000 to be a benefactor for the event!

I enjoyed meeting alums, older and younger than myself. The single thing I heard most after the event was that Bernadine Healy was "amazing" and she was! An extra special treat was getting a big hug from Mrs. Anastasia Nicholas, my 7th grade science teacher, and chatting with Dr. Anthony Miserandino who was Principal when I graduated in 1991. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the school and connect with alums!
