Become a Class Coordinator

Introduction

Each year the Hunter College High School Alumnae/i Association invites all alums to reconnect at Reunion Weekend.  To reach as many of our alums as possible we suggest that each Milestone class (multiples of 5 or 10 years since graduation) have at least two or more Class Coordinators. Class Coordinators are the liaisons between their classmates, the Alumnae/i Association and the high school. They plan their class-only party and other class-only events and have been responsible for the tremendous success of Milestone Class Giving. The Class Coordinators work with the Alumnae/i Office to achieve the goals for the Reunion Weekend.

Class Coordinator Responsibilities

Milestone Class Coordinators help build excitement for Reunion Weekend. They provide vital support to the school by helping to secure class gifts and by motivating others to do so as well. The job requirements are varied and can be divided among several alums from the same class. They are:
  • Attend Orientation. This session will help you plan a memorable reunion weekend
  • Recruit your classmates to serve on a Milestone Year Planning Committee
  • Plan your class’s party
  • Set a leadership example by making a class gift at a level that is personally meaningful before asking others to give.
  • Reach out to your classmates between December and June to ask for their participation in your class's fund-raising effort.
  • Inform your classmates about current issues at the School and provide feedback on their interests and concerns.
  • Join us at Reunion Weekend.
  • Speak for your class at the General Assembly and write a brief summary of your class activities for AlumNotes.

Post Reunion Responsibilities

After Reunion Weekend we hope you will want to remain active in the Alumnae/i Association as a Class Coordinator. These are some of the ways you can help:
  • Continue to serve as an ambassador for your class by advising the Alumnae/i Office of any information regarding classmates such as marriages, births, address changes, job promotions, deaths, email addresses, etc.
  • Work with the Alumnae/i office staff to design and execute a fundraising strategy for your class. This may include recruiting other class members to serve on a future Milestone Year planning committee with you.
  • Help identify programs of interest for your class.

Benefits of Being a Class Coordinator

Serving your alma mater as a Class Coordinator is a wonderful way to touch base with some "old" friends, as well as to make a difference in the lives of current and future students and the High School as a whole. Class Coordinators are Hunter College High School ambassadors, charged with helping build a strong connection between alumni and their alma mater. Each time AlumNotes is published, news appears because Class Coordinators have reached out to classmates to collect updates on their personal and professional developments. Serving as a Class Coordinator is a great way for people to stay caught up across the miles and across the years.
