Hunterite Strong

The HCHSAA has established an Emergency Fund to support urgent, unforeseen, and ongoing programs and activities for the students and faculty of Hunter College High School. The Emergency Fund enables the HCHSAA to rapidly respond to grant requests by the high school and help Hunter students overcome the challenges created by the global pandemic, especially the economically disadvantaged who are most adversely affected.

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a financial burden on the High School, and HCHSAA has joined the PTAs of the Elementary and High Schools, who each made gifts of $150,000. We have donated an Emergency Grant of $250,000 to help the High School cope with this enormous expense. This gift has helped to alleviate the significant costs associated with ensuring safety for our high school students throughout the pandemic. During the 2020-2021 year alone, emergency expenses for the high school have totaled more than $620,000. These include:

• Tents at the Silberman School of Social Work and the East 94th Street campus
• Monitors to ensure proper social distancing between students
• Outfitting a temporary nurse’s office at the Silberman School of Social Work|
• Bioreference Covid Testing (20% of the student population tested weekly)
• A building safety consultant
• Technology needs
• Parking for High School faculty near the Silberman School of Social Work and East 94th Street campuses
• Supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE)

We need your support to continue providing critical support to the High School as they navigate this difficult time. Please consider making a gift in support of the students at Hunter. Stand #HunteriteStrong and contribute to the Emergency Fund today!
